CHOCOLATE-NUT BROWNIES


ingredients

1 sq. unsweetened chocolate or 1 oz. no-melt unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. shortening
2 Tbsp. sweetener
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. chopped nuts

preparation

Melt the unsweetened chocolate and shortening in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Add sweetener, vanilla and beaten eggs. Stir until well blended. Add flour, salt and baking soda. Mix until well blended. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 8-inch pan. Bake at 325° for 20 minutes. Cool; cut into squares.

Substitution: Two brownies equal 1/2 bread and 1 1/2 fat substitutes.
