4 1/2 c. sugar 10 c. water 1 c. cornstarch 3 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. salt 3 Tbsp. lemon juice apples - sliced or cubed
Mix everything but lemon juice. Cook until thick and bubbly. Add lemon juice. Pour over sliced apples in quart jars and process 20 minutes. Makes 6 quarts. We have made this for years. We sometimes produce upwards of 70 quarts of the pie filling. Our children gather the apples, our men peel the apples, and we women slice the apples, make the filling, and process the jars. We have a potlock at noon and everyone helps. What a fun time we have. |
