Ada’s Devil Food Cake

 

Cake:

2 c. Sugar

½ c. Margarine

½ c. Cocoa

3 eggs

2 c. Flour

1 tsp. Soda

1 c. Buttermilk

2 tsp. Boiling water

1 tsp. Vanilla

 

Filling:

 

½ c. Sugar

2 Tbsp. Cornstarch

1 Egg

1 c. Milk

1 Tbsp. margarine

1 tsp. Vanilla

 

Frosting:

1 box confectioners sugar

1 stick margarine

1 tsp. Vanilla

milk (for spreading)

 

Directions:

 

Cake: 

Cream together sugar, margarine and cocoa.  Add eggs, one at a time.

Combine with remaining ingredients and mix well.  Pour into 3 layer pans and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

 

Filling:

Cook until thick; spread between layers.

 

 

 

Frosting:

 

Cream margarine and confectioners sugar in medium bowl.

Beat in vanilla and enough milk until smooth enough to spread.
