1940’s Chocolate Pie

 

6 Tbsp. flour

4 to 5 Tbsp. cocoa

1 c. sugar

4 egg yolks

1 tsp. vanilla

1 Tbsp. butter

1 can evaporated milk

1 ½ c. water

 

Mix flour, cocoa, and sugar.  In medium size pan – add milk and egg yolks; mix well – add water.  Stir well while cooking until thick.  Pour into pie shell.  Cover with meringue. Brown in oven. This recipe given to Easter (Quick) Barred by her mother-in-law – Gladys Barred in 1945.
