Brooklyn Bridge Cheese Bread
3
lb. fresh bread dough or frozen dough
½
tsp. Salt
¼
tsp. Pepper
all-purpose
flour
½ c. shortening (room temperature)
½
lb sliced Italian salami, cubed
½
lb. cheddar cheese (sharp or mild) cubed
½
lb. Provolone cheese, cubed
If you are using frozen dough, defrost
thoroughly and let rise. Place dough on
a floured board, add salt, pepper, salami and cheese, then knead into the
dough. Add shortening. Grease a round tube pan with
shortening. Shape dough around hole in
center of pan. Cover with a dish towel
and place in warm area to rise. When
dough has doubled, punch down and place in a preheated 350 degree oven, bake for 45 minutes. Shut off oven and leave in for another 15
minutes. Remove bread from pan after
taking out of the oven. Serve warm or
at room temperature. (To prevent a
messy oven, put a cookie sheet with sides under pan while baking.)
