APPLE DUMPLINGS


Apples:

ingredients

1 med. apple for each dumpling
1 recipe pastry for every 4 apples
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
butter

preparation

Make pie pastry. Roll thin into 7-inch squares. Pare and core desired number of medium-sized apples. Mix 1/2 c. sugar and 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Fill cavities of apples with mixture; dot with butter. Place each apple on a square of dough; wrap apples with dough and seal. Place in baking dish. Prepare butter syrup as directed below.

Butter Syrup:

ingredients

1 c. sugar
2 c. water
3 Tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

preparation

Put butter syrup ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for a few minutes. Pour hot syrup over dumplings. Bake 40-45 minutes at 425°.
