Chocolate Syrup Cake

 

Ingredients:

Cake:

½ cup margarine, softened

1 cup sugar

4 eggs

1 cup all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

pinch of salt

1 (16ounce) can chocolate syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla

 

Frosting:

¼ cup margarine

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup evaporated milk

½ cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels

 

Directions:

Cake:

Combine ingredients in order listed.  Mix until well blended.  Pour into a greased and floured 13x9 inch pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.  Remove from oven, cool slightly and top with frosting while warm. 

 

Frosting:

Combine fist 3 ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil over a medium heat, stirring constantly.  Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add chocolate morsels.  Stir until well mixed.  Pour over warm cake.
