Chocolate Upside-Down Cake

 

Ingredients:

 

1 ¼ c flour

¾ c sugar

2 tsp. Baking Power

½ tsp. Salt

2 Tbsp. Butter

½ c. milk

1 tsp. Vanilla

½ c nutmeats (optional)

1 square bitter chocolate

 

Topping:

 

2 Tbsp. cocoa

½ c. Brown Sugar

½ cup sugar

1 c. boiling water

 

Directions:

 

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.  Melt chocolate and butter: Mix with milk and vanilla.  Stir in dry ingredients.  Add nuts and mix.  Pour into well greased large black cast-iron pan.  Mix cocoa, brown sugar and sugar.  Spread over cake.  Pour hot water over and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

 

Recipe I remember my Mom making when we were young.  Very sweet like fudge.
