Daddy’s Crab Imperial

 

˝ tsp. salt

4 Tbsp. butter

2 Tbsp. flour

1 c. milk

2 tsp. lemon juice

1 tsp. mustard

1 lb. crabmeat

Tabasco sauce to taste

˝ c. grated cheese

Worcestershire sauce

1 (big) Tbsp. mayonnaise

2 slices bread

 

Melt butter in saucepan and blend in flour.  Add milk, stirring to prevent lumping and make smooth white sauce.  Fold in remaining ingredients.  Stirring, place crabmeat (in lumps – don’t break apart) in casserole dish.  Pour sauce over top of crabmeat.  Sprinkle grated cheese on top.  Toast 2 slices of bread, break into crumbs and put on top.  Place in hot oven at 400 degrees - cook 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
