Mrs. Claus' Favorite Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
2 eggs
1 1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
3 cups whole wheat pastry flour
2 cups unbleached white flour
1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger

Directions:
Cream together butter, sugar and molasses.  Add eggs, beat well.  In separate bowl, mix flours, salt, baking soda and spices.  Slowly add to creamed mixture and mix well.  refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.  Roll out on lightly floured table, 1/2 inch thick.  Cut with cookie cutters.  Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.  Cool completely on wire rack.  Frost or decorate with icing outlines and bits of raisins and/or silver balls.
