1/2 lb butter 5 whole eggs 1/4 tsp salt 1 Tbsp vanilla 1/2 c shortening 3 c plain flour, sifted before measuring 6 Tbsp cocoa 3 c sugar 1 tsp baking powder 1 c milk 3 Tbsp powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream thoroughly the butter, shortening, and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, until all are well mixed. Combine sifted dry ingredients and add the vanilla into the milk. Add alternately dry ingredients and milk mixture a little at a time until all incorporated. You may use either a loaf pan or a tube pan. Line pan of choice with waxed paper, then grease and flour the pan. bake the cake for 1 hour, 20 minutes. Cool in pan for approx. 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on rack. After cooled, place cake on serving dish and sprinkle with the powdered sugar. |
