Copy cat version of this salad that was made famous in the "Detroit downtown Hudson" building during the economic height of the city.
Dressing: 2 tsp white vinegar 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice 1 1/2tsp minced onion juice 1 1/2 tsp sugar 1 1/2 tsp dijon mustard 1/4 tsp dry mustard 1 cup mayonnaise 2 tbls chopped fresh parsley 1 hard cooked egg, crumbled salt to taste
Salad Ingredients: 14 oz. ham, cut into strips 14 oz. cooked turkey breast, cut into strips 14 oz swiss cheese, cut into strips 1/2 cup slivered, sweet gherkin pickles 1 hard cooked egg chopped 1 head iceburg lettuce, shreded 12-16 pimento stuffed green olives
Combine the first 6 dressing ingredients and stir to dissolve the sugar. Add remaining dressing ingredients and mix well. Top the lettuce with the ham, turkey, cheeese, chopped eggand pickles. Add dressing and toss. Garnish with chopped olives. |
