1 c. butter or oleo 1/3 c. sugar 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup 3 Tbsp. water 1 large pkg. slivered almonds 1 large (12) bar hershey chocolate bar finely chopped, slivered almonds (as desired)
Melt butter in large saucepan. Add sugar, corn syrup and water. Stir to mix. Cook over medium heat, stirring now and then to hardcrack stage. WATCH CAREFULLY after temperature reaches 280 degrees. Remove from heat and quickly stir in some of the almonds. Spread in ungreased 13x9 inch pan. Cool and refrigerate. Melt 1/2 chocolate bar in top of double broiler. Finally chop some of the almonds. Spread chocolate on top of candy, sprinkling with finely chopped almonds; refrigerate. Turn candy over and spread over side with rest of melted chocolate bar and almonds; refrigerate.
